It has to outsell its department
A product only enters the archive once it has been the top seller in its own category for twelve consecutive months. No exceptions for new launches, however good they look.
It has to survive a return rate under 3%
Selling a lot is not enough. Anything that comes back more than three times in a hundred stays out, because volume without keeping power is just noise.
It has to be repairable or replaceable
We only stock objects we can service for two years after purchase. If the maker cannot support it, we cannot sell it — the archive is a commitment, not a feed.
